Alex O'Loughlin dedicated a Rose to ride on the 2010 Donate Life Rose Parade Float, New Life Rises, in memory of Fernando Fernandez Alejandre. Inspired by Three Rivers, Fernando’s family consented to his eye donation.

 

Alex's dedication: "In memory of FernandoFernandez Alejandre. Fernando's legacy lives on through his family,friends and those whose sight he restored through cornea donation. Iwill always be inspired by Fernando's generosity. Very sincerely, AlexO'Loughlin"

The 4th Annual Alex Band’s Donate Life Rocks comes back to Los Angeles at Café Was

Donate Life America is pleased to announce Alex Band, singer and songwriter of multi-platinum band The Calling, will be bringing his musical talents and songwriting skills for an evening of music to help highlight the need for increased organ and tissue donation.

In addition, Alex will be celebrating the release of his new live DVD and the launch of his bracelet/music line “Black Star Bracelets”.  A portion of all bracelets sold go directly to Alex’s charity, Donate Life America.  

 

The “Alex Band’s Donate Life Rocks” show will be at Café Was, Los Angeles, CA.  Red carpet begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, and is sponsored Café Was and Zorbitz.  There is no cover charge for this event, but donations to Donate Life America are encouraged.

Donate Life Ambassador Alex O'Loughlin in a pre-recorded message sent his support to the worldwide efforts for organ donation. His message was shown on huge video screens strategically place throughout the World Day & European Day of Organ Donation concert which was held in Berlin, Germany at Brandenberg Gate on October 5th. In addition to Alex's message, heartwarming stories were shared by donor families and transplant recipients encouraging concert attendees to become organ, eye & tissue donors. The European Day of Organ Donation events were also broadcast on television throughout Europe. The Day of Organ Donation was held in conjunction with the International Society of Organ Procurement (ISODP) Congress attended by over 700 delegates from 60 countries.

 

The text of Alex's message follows:

"Hi, this is Alex O’Loughlin with CBS’s new medical drama Three Rivers. I am honored to play a transplant surgeon on the show which premieres tonight in the States and I want to congratulate you on the work you are doing to raise awareness of organ donation worldwide and save lives through donation and transplantation. I wish I could be there with you celebrating World Donation Day and I am happy to play a small role in what you are doing to encourage the world to Donate Life. Thank you.”

Three Rivers star, Alex O'Loughlin completed his Donate Life Ambassador training on-set last week along with 20 other cast and crew. Alex will be wearing his Donate Life pin on screen begining with episode three. Alex is excited about working with Donate Life to help inspire Americans to register as an organ, eye & tissue donor. The clip below is of Alex speaking about organ donation on the Doctor's Show.

CBS Cares PSA THREE RIVERS series lead Alex O'Loughlin, a trained Donate Life ambassador, is featured in a Network public service announcement in which he reveals that he is an organ, eye and tissue donor and adds: "You also have the power to donate life visit donatelife.net." Those who visit the Web site can learn how to become a donor in their state.


Donate Life Awareness Bracelets Tens of thousands of green Donate Life awareness bracelets packaged with THREE RIVERS art and tune-in information are being distributed at several Donate Life America-affiliated events and via CBS properties such as "The Price Is Right" studio audiences, the CBS Store in New York City and the CBS Scene restaurant in Foxborough, Mass. The CBS Television Distribution talk show "The Doctors" provided the bracelets to their audience members when Alex O'Loughlin taped a guest appearance to talk about THREE RIVERS and the efforts of Donate Life America. O'Loughlin wears a Donate Life awareness bracelet on that episode of "The Doctors," which will be broadcast Friday, Oct. 2. O'Loughlin's series character, a lead organ transplant surgeon, can also be seen wearing the bracelet on the premiere episode of THREE RIVERS this Sunday.

 

Department of Motor Vehicles Digital Ads A THREE RIVERS promotional spot tagged with Donate Life information, encouraging people to check the donor box as they apply for or renew a license, will be shown on the Motor Vehicle Network (MVN) at select DMV locations throughout the country.


Social Networking Outreach CBS has produced a THREE RIVERS page on the social media utility SocialVibe that enables people to create a Donate Life badge to post on their social networking profile(s) as a means of building interest in the new series and furthering the organ donation awareness efforts of Donate Life America. THREE RIVERS is also being promoted on Donate Life America's Facebook page.


Additionally, the creative force behind THREE RIVERS has an ongoing working relationship with Donate Life America. The Fans of Three Rivers Organ Donor Campaign is a coalition of fans dedicated to spreading the word about organ donation, and assisting those who are interested to register as organ donors.  It?s also an avenue to provide assistance to donor recipients who may need transplant housing, anti-rejection medications, child care, and so forth.

 

No one individual or group takes credit for this campaign.  Rather, it is a combined effort that is equally acknowledged, with every web site, fan site, or individual acknowledged in alphabetical order.  This is about doing something good for our communities, countries, and the world, while honoring Three Rivers.

Donate Life, CBS Partner On 'Three Rivers' Debut

NEW YORK (CBS) - CBS has partnered with Donate Life America, raising awareness of how and why to become an organ donor in conjunction with the Network's new medical series, "Three Rivers."


Among the joint marketing initiatives are a "CBS Cares" public service campaign, digital ads in Department of Motor Vehicles throughout the country, distribution of Donate Life awareness bracelets and social networking outreach via SocialVibe, Twitter, Facebook and other online networks.

The creative force behind the new medical drama has an ongoing working relationship with Donate Life America.  


"We have been working with Donate Life to ensure 'Three Rivers' accuracy," said executive producer/creator Carol Barbee. "We are hoping that the awareness from our show and the outreach from the combined efforts of CBS and Donate Life will result in an increase in donor registration which in turn will save lives."


"Our goal is to get people to take action now and register as an organ and tissue donor on their state donor registry," said David Fleming, executive director of Donate Life America. "If CBS can help people take this action, then they can help save lives."
