Orci and Kurtzman Comment on Hawaii Five-0

The Trek/Transformers writers talk about their new TV project.

"... Discussing their take on the project, Orci said, "I think the idea is to update it in a way that is still the comfort food that it always was, but almost a little Miami Vice too."
Added Kurtzman, "Peter Lenkov is one of the CSI: New York showrunners. He brought the idea to us. He pitched us an extraordinary pilot. We were really taken with it. It's not what we expected. There's a really emotional component to it."
Kurtzman added that they saw Hawaii Five-0 as an opportunity to, "Take something with a preconceived idea and turn it on its ear, and you have something really compelling."
Orci said they wanted to make Hawaii Five-), "Pure action and a producedual, but with some genuine character stuff in there. We hope it's a mix that you don't see often.""
